“Do your practice and all is coming.”
~ Sri K Patthabi Jois
We all come to yoga for different reasons. Whether it be to become stronger or more agile, to reduce stress, practice balance, relieve pain, nurse an injury, or find peace and quiet, yoga can be a life changing experience.
While I currently live in Phoenix, AZ, I began my yoga practice over 10 years ago while living in New York City. Although I’ve always been a mover (a dancer), I never thought I’d connect to another moving practice quite like I did with yoga. I was dealing with a painful back injury and literally felt my body asking for yoga. This was the start of my yoga journey. Yoga straightened out my spine, relieved my pain, and helped me find strength. It was, and still is, my emotional and physical therapy.
Luckily, yoga is for everyone!
The beauty of yoga is that it can be practiced by anyone. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how flexible you are, or what shape you are in. Yoga increases flexibility and coordination, promotes better posture, increases joint health, and makes your bones stronger to prevent osteoporosis. It helps stimulate the circulatory system and the digestive process, as well as the nervous system. Yoga helps you find a more peaceful approach to the everyday grind. Yoga reminds you to breathe…and have fun even in an uncomfortable situation.
The word Yoga is Sanskrit for Yoke, or union. In the practice of yoga we seek to create union between the mind, body and spirit. Yoga is not a religion, but a practice of nurturing oneself so that you can be who you want to be.
I would be honored to facilitate your yoga journey here in Phoenix, AZ! Please contact me to find out more about private in-home yoga sessions or group classes.
